I've been thinking a lot about sustainability lately, in all areas of life. And how that impacts on my creative work. Buying new fabrics and materials just isn't ethical for me anymore, not when there is an endless supply of secondhand clothing and textiles available. I want to create work that is sustainable, using materials that might otherwise be discarded, giving them a second life.
I also want to allow myself the chance to experiment and play with my work, something that I haven't really done since finishing my degree. To try out different techniques and to create for the enjoyment of it! Ive been working on a few things lately that fit both these requirements and which I'm super excited about...!
Images are of a duvet cover I bought secondhand recently, the print is amazing but the fabric is so thin it's no good for its original purpose anymore, perfect for re-use!
